Tom and the Smart Homes Electrical team really know their stuff. From homes in the Peak District to big commercial roofs like Gulliver's, they survey properly, design the system around how you actually use energy, and back it up with proper after care. Well, from the start of meeting the Managing Director Tom and arranging a meeting for Tom to attend my property, we discussed my expectations for solar panels to be supplied and fitted at my property, Tom reassured myself and explained the SigEnergy system, which would consist of 14No. N type 490watt each of solar panels consisting of 2No. rings together with a 8KW Inverter and 2No. 10KW Batteries. this was agreed for a quotation to be provided and to what I confirmed to myself of being a very fair and good price. All equipment was provided 2 weeks later and was installed, tested and commissioned by a Team of professional, qualified and very experienced electrical engineers, myself and my wife was shown with full explanations of the equipment with the Sigenergy App being explained and setup during the handover. The system is working brilliantly and my present Octopus Intelligent Go electricity demand has now dropped from around £4 to £5 per day to around 16p to 14p a day.      I would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone involved from Tom and his office team to Ben and his on-site installation team. I had been thinking about solar for some time, but never quite got round to doing anything about it. My neighbour spurred me into action by having a system installed by Smart Homes Electrical and had nothing but good words to say about them, so I took the plunge.
My experience was absolutely first class from beginning to end. The survey was done using drone technology and a site walk-around, where I had the opportunity to ask questions and agree locations for equipment and cabling etc. Everything was explained to me with no hard sell. The detailed proposal was sent to me the same day.  Any subsequent questions I had were dealt with promptly. The installation was booked with around a fortnight’s lead-time.
The scaffolding company (TRS) then did a site inspection visit and scaffolding was installed a couple of days before the solar installation. A really impressive build of what was a complicated structure due to the presence of a garden room extension.
The solar installation took two days and the Smart Homes Electrical guys did a superb job. Thanks Jack and Leo! They were friendly, polite, helpful and professional. You just had that feeling of reassurance that you get when people are at the top of their game and absolutely know exactly what they are doing. They did a faultless job. Most importantly - in the eyes of my wife - they were incredibly tidy!
I was shown how to install and operate the associated app on my phone and they dealt with all my operational questions.
Clearly, there are other companies out there that can do solar installations, but I find it difficult to imagine that anyone could do it better.

Installation took place less than a month after initial contact and 'go ahead'.  Scaffolders were punctual and efficient.  Installation team were efficient, well organised and highly competent.  Explanations were patiently given when requested.  The 'app' for controlling and monitoring the system was set up and the panels were up and running before the end of the second day. Had to pop in to arrange a FIT transfer on behalf of my Mum.
The team were great, very helpful.
Mum has had no issues with her installation in the 7 years its been in.

Excellent process from start to finish. Tom & his team delivered exactly what they said they would. Quote process was quick, streamlined and easy to understand. Installation was incredibly slick & professional - and credit to the gents who fitted the panels as it was mid heatwave and they worked tirelessly to get everything done. Had a solar and battery install done in May 2026. Worked with Tom to size my solution and has been working flawlessly since. During the install the scaffolding was up for the minimum amount of time and all the work was completed in the two days as expected and to a great standard. Installation completed today to a high standard, despite monsoon conditions yesterday!
The install team were very polite, helpful and worked hard in awful rain conditions, great work ethic and couldn’t fault them at all.
The whole experience from start to finish was excellent, from the initial survey by Tom to handover by Ben.
Can’t forget the scaffolders, all friendly, polite and tidy.

I have to agree with all other reviews on this site. Really please with the installation of 11 panels, a battery and EV car charging point. Tom came round and after survey gave a competitive quote. Had to wait a little while for panels to arrive but was kept informed all the way. The installation was really smooth, quick and efficient, particularly good given it was really hot on the days the installation took place. What a summer to have a solar system installed.
The whole process  was carried out in a friendly and professional manner.
We've had family visiting for 5 weeks and it's produced more than we could use. A household of 8!

Tom responded very quickly when I asked for a quote, he listened to our requirements and was happy to answer my follow up questions. Ben carried out the installation, he was neat and once again happy to answer our questions. He made sure that the system did exactly what we wanted it to do. Outstanding Service and Workmanship

I cannot recommend Smart Homes Electrical highly enough.
From the initial quotation through to completion, Tom, Ben and Rich were excellent.

They took the time to listen to my requirements, provided honest and knowledgeable guidance throughout, and clearly took pride in delivering a high-quality installation.

The workmanship was superb. The cable routing, equipment installation and overall attention to detail were first class. Everything was installed neatly, professionally and exactly as discussed. As an engineer with particularly high standards (and a tendency to be a little OCD about these things!), I pay close attention to detail, and I genuinely couldn't fault the quality of the work.

A special mention to Ben, whose workmanship was absolutely outstanding and deserving of a 5-star review on its own. The team went above and beyond my expectations, ensuring everything was completed to the highest standard and leaving the site clean and tidy.

The finished installation of the 7.84kWp solar system, Tesla Powerwall 3 and EV charger looks fantastic, and the attention to detail in areas that most people would never see is a real credit to the team.

Professional, knowledgeable, courteous and highly skilled from start to finish. I would have no hesitation in recommending Smart Homes Electrical to anyone considering solar, battery storage or EV charging installations.

Great service from all of the team involved in my 10 panel solar and battery installation - patiently answered my many questions , knowledgeable, helpful and efficient. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend. Chose a local company having seen their work in the National Park and community.

came round to quote very promptly, gave a competitive price, and had sorted scaffolding and installation dates within the week. Scaffolders did a great job (especially on our interesting access! Thanks Glen and co) and the installation went very smoothly over a day and a half, Jack and Leo were prompt, polite and just cracked on with the job no bother at all. And Ben followed up with some post-installation info which was really helpful, plus a follow up email from Amanda to keep me updated on the paperwork. Absolutely brilliant service, cannot fault it at all. Sincere thanks to you all. Would highly recommend to anyone thinking of solar/battery. I invited three companies to quote for the work on our property, installing solar panels, battery and associated equipment. Tom visited my property and explained in simple terms, what solar was all about and what I should expect from it. He explained the additional bits of kit I may want to consider in my personal situation, listened to what I wanted and explained why some of the claims from the other quotes were wrong. Backing up Tom’s comments with my own research, I realised that he had genuinely just given me straight forward, honest advice.

The price recorded was competitive, and the company were willing to work with my chosen roofer, so we were all set to go.

On the day of the install (and the whole thing did only take a day for me!), the filters were polite, clean and tidy and efficient. A true credit to the company.

Their installation team were excellent and all the work was completed in 2 days.We are very pleased with the solution put forward and we are already benefiting from the savings made by this system.
